  • Isai was born in Providence, Rhode Island and was raised by Guatemalan immigrant parents.

He moved to Florida when he was 10 years old.

As a child, Isai had to witness his mother almost being deported. Thankfully, with the help of an attorney, his mother was not deported and she is now a U.S. Citizen.

Isai grew up and witnessed friends and family members caught in both the immigration and criminal justice system. Inspired by injustice, Isai now fights for the the voiceless community.

Isai graduated from Port St. Lucie High School, Indian River State College, Florida International University, and Nova Southeastern University - College of Law.

Both Isai and his brother are first generation college graduates. Thanks to their courageous parents decision to flee Guatemala for a better life in the United States, Isai and his brother were able to achieve the “American Dream.”

Clerk’s Office

During law school, Isai  worked as a “Navigator” at the Palm Beach Clerk’s Office. He worked full time by day and went to law school at night. As the Navigator, Isai helped people fill out family law forms like divorce, child custody, and child support. He also helped people with landlord/tenant evictions and petitions to seal or expunge criminal records. 4 years later, Isai graduated law school.

Assistant Public Defender

Right after law school, Isai worked at the Palm Beach Public Defender’s Office. There, he worked as an Assistant Public Defender in the domestic violence, county criminal, and felony divisions. During his 3 years at the Public Defender’s Office, Isai tried over 35 jury trials as both lead and co-counsel. He tried 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degree felonies, domestic violence, misdemeanors, assault & battery, theft, and DUI’s. While at the Public Defender’s Office, Isai won the “Trial Stick” award for trying the most cases within a given trial period.

Immigration Defense

After Isai left the Public Defender’s Office, Isai worked in immigration and criminal defense with the Law Office of Jan P. Weiss in Lake Worth. Inspired by the amazing attorneys* (Andres, Rebecca, Mark and Jan), Isai defended the immigrant community against deportation, helped release immigrants from immigration jail, and defended their criminal cases in state court.
